STACK Infrastructure KIX01A Keihanna Hyperscale Data Center

Status: Active Development / Under Construction Phase (Groundbroken April 2025)   |   Location: 3 Chome Hikaridai, Seika, Soraku District, Kyoto Prefecture 619-0237, Japan

Project Overview

The STACK Infrastructure KIX01A Data Center is an 18 MW hyperscale digital infrastructure facility located at 3 Chome Hikaridai in Seika, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Developed through a joint venture between STACK Infrastructure and ESR Group, the facility is the first three-story building within the flagship KIX01 Keihanna Campus, a 13-acre (5.3-hectare) development planned to deliver 72 MW of total capacity. Situated within Kansai Science City, a major research and technology hub, the project is strategically positioned to support growing demand for cloud computing, enterprise IT, and high-performance digital infrastructure across Japan’s Kansai region. Its location provides access to the broader Osaka–Kyoto–Kobe economic corridor, which hosts manufacturing companies, research institutions, technology businesses, and multinational enterprises. The facility is designed to accommodate the expanding computing requirements of organizations adopting cloud platforms, digital services, and data-intensive applications. As the inaugural building of a larger campus, KIX01A establishes the foundation for phased infrastructure expansion, enabling additional capacity to be developed as market demand grows. The campus-scale approach can support operational efficiencies and provide customers with access to a larger hyperscale environment over time. Its development also reflects continued investment in Japan’s regional data center markets beyond the established Tokyo metropolitan hub. With businesses increasingly relying on secure, scalable, and resilient computing infrastructure, facilities such as KIX01A can help strengthen regional digital capacity and support connectivity between enterprises and cloud service providers. The project highlights the growing importance of the Kansai region within Japan’s digital infrastructure landscape, combining a strategic technology location with a planned multi-building campus. Its long-term contribution will depend on deployment schedules, power availability, and customer demand, while the wider KIX01 development provides a framework for future hyperscale growth in the Keihanna area.
