Crusoe Myers Energy Park AI Data Center

Status: Announced / AESO Connection Queue & Site Development   |   Location: Myers Energy Park, Northland Dr, Red Deer County, AB T4P 3E3, Canada

Project Overview

The Crusoe Myers Energy Park AI Data Center represents a major high-density AI infrastructure development in Red Deer County, Alberta, Canada, being developed by Crusoe Energy Systems through Crusoe Cloud in partnership with KALiNA Distributed Power Limited (KDP). Situated on a 65-acre site, the project is designed as a co-located, behind-the-fence power campus that integrates dedicated electricity generation directly with large-scale computing infrastructure. The development is centered around KALiNA’s near-zero-emissions Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant, which is planned to incorporate Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) technology to reduce emissions associated with electricity generation. The project has an initial load filing target of 280 MW with the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO), highlighting its substantial power requirements and intended scale. This dedicated energy model is designed to provide continuous and reliable electricity for ultra-high-density artificial intelligence workloads, including AI model training, inference, and other compute-intensive applications. By integrating power generation and data center infrastructure within a single campus, the project aims to reduce dependence on conventional grid supply while providing a dedicated energy source capable of supporting demanding AI workloads. Its location in Alberta also places the development within a region with an established energy industry, substantial natural gas resources, and growing interest in digital infrastructure. The combination of AI computing and lower-emission power generation reflects an emerging data center development model focused on energy security, operational reliability, and sustainability. If developed as planned, the Crusoe Myers Energy Park could become a significant AI infrastructure hub in Western Canada, demonstrating how dedicated power generation and advanced computing facilities can be integrated to support the rapidly expanding global demand for artificial intelligence capacity.
