Status: Under Construction (Groundbroken November 2024) | Location: Agiou Louka 33, Peania 190 02, Attica, Greece (7.5-hectare campus footprint in Peania industrial zone)
The DATA4 Athens Campus (ATH01) is a major digital infrastructure development located on a 7.5-hectare site at Agiou Louka 33 in Peania, Attica, Greece, approximately 20 minutes from central Athens and close to the Athens International Airport corridor. Developed by DATA4 Group, a French pan-European data centre operator backed by Brookfield Infrastructure Partners, the campus represents a significant investment in Greece’s expanding digital infrastructure market. With an investment exceeding €300 million, ATH01 is designed to support growing demand for hyperscale cloud computing, enterprise IT services, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing (HPC). Its strategic location within the Athens metropolitan region provides access to established telecommunications networks, international connectivity routes, and a growing technology ecosystem serving southeastern Europe. As a carrier-neutral facility, the campus is intended to enable customers to connect with multiple telecommunications providers and network operators, supporting flexible connectivity and reliable data exchange. The development is planned to accommodate the increasing infrastructure requirements of cloud service providers, multinational enterprises, and digital businesses operating across Greece and neighbouring markets. Its campus-based design allows for scalable infrastructure deployment, with electrical systems, cooling technologies, security controls, and resilient building infrastructure supporting continuous data centre operations. The project also reflects Greece’s broader ambition to strengthen its position as a regional digital gateway linking Europe, the Balkans, and the eastern Mediterranean. By expanding local data centre capacity, DATA4 Athens Campus could help businesses improve access to digital services, support data-intensive applications, and strengthen regional cloud and AI infrastructure. Its long-term contribution will depend on phased development, customer demand, power availability, and the successful delivery of supporting infrastructure.
