Status: Under Construction | Location: Väinämöisentie 2, 15170 Lahti, Finland
DayOne Lahti Data Center, located on a 100,000-square-meter site at Väinämöisentie 2 in Lahti, Finland, represents a flagship €1.2 billion investment by Singapore-based digital infrastructure developer DayOne and a major brownfield redevelopment initiative in the Nordic data center market. The project is transforming a former industrial site in the Kiveriö district into a modern, high-density hyperscale computing campus designed to support the rapidly growing requirements of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, high-performance computing, and other data-intensive digital workloads. Development is planned across multiple phases, with the initial Phase 1 buildout designed around approximately 50 MW of IT capacity before the campus expands toward a total planned IT load of approximately 128 MW. The large site provides sufficient space for multiple data center buildings and supporting electrical, cooling, networking, security, and utility infrastructure, allowing the campus to scale as customer demand increases. The project also emphasizes environmental efficiency by taking advantage of Finland’s favorable climate, renewable energy availability, and opportunities for heat-reuse integration. Waste heat generated by the data center can potentially be recovered and supplied to local heating networks, improving overall energy efficiency while supporting the transition toward lower-carbon digital infrastructure. Advanced cooling systems and high-density data hall designs are expected to support increasingly demanding AI and GPU-based computing environments. The Lahti location also provides access to established transport, energy, and telecommunications infrastructure while contributing to the regeneration of previously industrialized land. Through its combination of large-scale investment, phased capacity expansion, brownfield redevelopment, and sustainability-focused engineering, the DayOne Lahti Data Center is positioned to become a significant European digital infrastructure hub. The development highlights Finland’s growing role in attracting hyperscale and AI-oriented data center investment while demonstrating how modern computing campuses can be integrated into existing industrial communities and regional energy ecosystems.
