Digital Realty KIX15 48 MW Osaka AI Data Center Japan

Status: Under Construction   |   Location: KIX Campus, Saito, Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan

Project Overview

Digital Realty KIX15 Data Center, located within the KIX Campus in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, is the fifth data center planned for the campus and is being developed by MC Digital Realty, the 50/50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Digital Realty. Construction of KIX15 commenced in October 2026, with the facility planned to provide 24 MW of server power capacity and support hybrid air and liquid cooling for high-density computing workloads. The facility is being developed to address increasing demand for AI infrastructure, cloud services, and advanced computing across the Kansai region, with applications expected to include AI-related workloads, hyperscale deployments, and enterprise cloud environments. KIX15 is designed with the scalability of the wider KIX Campus in mind, allowing customers to expand infrastructure within a connected campus environment while accessing network and interconnection services. The facility is also expected to connect customers with major domestic and international locations through Digital Realty’s PlatformDIGITAL ecosystem and ServiceFabric interconnection solutions. KIX15 is scheduled to begin service in the fourth quarter of 2028. Upon completion, MC Digital Realty expects its Japan portfolio to reach 10 data centers with approximately 220 MW of aggregate server power capacity. The development forms part of MC Digital Realty’s broader Kansai AI Infrastructure Co-Creation Project, which focuses on expanding computing capacity, connectivity, and collaboration with technology and telecommunications partners to support AI infrastructure development in the region.
