Equinix DA11 International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) Data Center
Status: Operational with phased expansion complete (Fully Built Out) | Location: 1990 North Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75207, USA
Project Overview
Equinix DA11 is a state-of-the-art International Business Exchange (IBX) data center located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan area, one of the world's most critical interconnection markets and a Primary U.S. Data Center Hub. As the ninth data center for Equinix in the Dallas metro, DA11 strategically expands the existing Infomart Data Center campus, which serves as the largest internet exchange in the South Central U.S. The facility was designed to meet the growing demand for highly secure, low-latency connectivity required by enterprises, cloud providers, and network services.DA11 is a four-story, purpose-built structure, making it one of Equinix's first high-rise data center projects in the U.S. Its initial phase, representing a $142 million USD investment,
was commissioned in July 2020, providing 1,975 cabinets. The facility is now fully built out to its total capacity of approximately $14.0 \text{ MW}$ of critical IT load across nearly 3,850 cabinets and $144,000 \text{ square feet}$ of colocation space. The project utilized Equinix's Flexible Data Center (FDC) principles and modular construction to accelerate delivery despite construction challenges, including unexpected underground water issues on the site. The facility's technical specifications reflect its mission-critical role. It features robust N+2 redundancy for both its power (UPS) and cooling systems, ensuring high resilience often equated to Tier IV standards for key components. Power is backed by eight 3,000 kW diesel generators to guarantee continuous operation. Connectivity is paramount: DA11 offers direct access to over 125 network providers, enabling customers to leverage the rich ecosystem of cloud, financial, and digital media companies present in the Dallas area. This strategic location and high-density interconnection capability firmly establish DA11 as a crucial hub for routing data traffic, particularly to Central and South American routes. The project is certified LEED and ISO 50001, reflecting Equinix's commitment to sustainability, with the energy use covered by their corporate goal of utilizing 100% clean and renewable energy across their global platform.
