Fossefall AI Factory & Data Center
Status: Announced / Acquisition Complete (Late 2025) Commissioning Commissioning Phased conversion, initial AI capacity launch expected H | Location: Fyresdal, Vestfold and Telemark County, Norway
Project Overview
The Fossefall AI Factory represents a strategic pivot in the Nordic data center market. Fossefall, a newly launched Norwegian AI infrastructure startup, acquired the Fyresdal Datacenter from Norsk Data AS to establish its first AI Factory in Norway. The core mission is to convert Norway's abundant, low-cost hydropower advantage into high-value digital infrastructure, preventing the cheap export of raw energy. The long-term plan is to build a network of AI factories across Norway and Sweden, aiming for 500 MW of clean AI capacity by 2030. The Fyresdal location is ideal due to its cold inland climate, which aids natural cooling, and, critically, because the site has pre-reserved grid capacity, ensuring a predictable and fast ramp-up for the current power demands (initial 5.5 MW). This project is heavily focused on sovereign, secure AI, emphasised by a partnership with US-based Seekr, a company specializing in enterprise AI solutions for government and defense sectors. Seekr will be the anchor client for the first 36 months, deploying its SeekrFlow™ platform and validating Fossefall's model of providing verifiable, clean AI compute for the European market. The facility is set to demonstrate how European companies can use AI in critical systems rapidly and securely, leveraging the region's clean energy and political stability.
