Project Overview
The G42-FPT-VTG Vietnam AI Campus is a monumental leap in Southeast Asia's digital infrastructure, officially announced in Ho Chi Minh City on February 9, 2026. This project marks the first major "Stargate" global expansion for the Abu Dhabi-based AI powerhouse G42, in collaboration with Vietnam’s leading technology conglomerate FPT Corporation and the Viet Thai Group (VTG). With a committed investment of $1 billion, the consortium aims to build a world-class AI ecosystem that bridges the Middle East and the ASEAN region.
The primary objective of the 1GW campus is to establish Sovereign AI capabilities for Vietnam. By housing data and compute power locally, the facility ensures that national data residency requirements are met while providing the high-performance computing (HPC) necessary for training Large Language Models (LLMs) and deploying enterprise-grade AI applications. The campus is designed to meet the extreme power and thermal demands of modern GPUs, featuring Direct-to-Chip liquid cooling and a targeted PUE of less than 1.3, setting a new efficiency benchmark for the region.
Strategically located in Ho Chi Minh City, the site benefits from proximity to international subsea cable landing stations, offering low-latency connectivity to global markets. This project is not merely a data storage facility but a "Digital Embassy" where public and private sectors can innovate within a secure, high-capacity cloud environment. As part of a multi-phase rollout, the first phase is expected to be operational by early 2027, eventually scaling to a massive 1 Gigawatt of total capacity, making it one of the largest AI-ready data center hubs in the world.
