Google Malaysia Hyperscale Campus
Status: Under Construction (Energy Procurement Secured) | Location: Elmina Business Park, Selangor, Malaysia
Project Overview
Google’s expansion into Malaysia is a cornerstone of its "Cloud Region" strategy in Southeast Asia. Located in Sime Darby Property’s Elmina Business Park, the KUL1 campus is designed to meet the explosive demand for AI and Google Cloud services across the ASEAN region. This project is notable for being Google’s first-ever data center in Malaysia, representing a $2 billion investment in the initial phase alone.
The facility is engineered for high-performance AI workloads, featuring a custom cooling architecture designed for the tropical climate of Selangor. On December 17, 2025, Google and TotalEnergies signed a landmark agreement to supply the site with 1 terawatt-hour (TWh) of certified renewable electricity annually from a new solar plant in Kedah. This ensures the campus operates with a near-zero carbon footprint from day one. Beyond the physical build, the project is a "Strategic Infrastructure" play, linking into Google’s massive subsea cable network (including the Indigo and Echo cables) to provide ultra-low latency connectivity between Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia.
