Project Overview

NeoAI Datacenter is a planned dedicated artificial intelligence data center facility located on a 100,000 square meter site within the Gwangmyeong General Industrial Complex in Pohang, South Korea. Developed by Seoul headquartered NeoAI Cloud in partnership with Hyundai E&C, with support from Forest Partners and regional policy funds, the project is designed to expand high performance computing infrastructure for AI focused workloads. The Phase 1 development represents an investment of ₩550 billion, approximately $410 million, and is planned to provide 40 MW of utility capacity for high density GPU clusters and large language model processing. The facility is intended to support computing requirements associated with AI training, inference, enterprise applications, and other data intensive workloads that require substantial processing capacity and reliable power infrastructure. Its location in Pohang provides access to established industrial and energy infrastructure, supporting the electrical and operational requirements of a large scale computing facility. The project also benefits from the city’s academic and research ecosystem, including POSTECH, which contributes to the broader environment for artificial intelligence research, engineering, and technology development. Clean energy connectivity is another component of the proposed infrastructure strategy, with the facility planned to access direct clean energy grid connections to support its electricity requirements. This approach aligns the project with the increasing emphasis on reliable and lower carbon power sources for AI infrastructure, where electricity demand is significantly higher than in conventional data center environments. The combination of GPU optimized infrastructure, substantial utility capacity, industrial development support, and proximity to a major technology research institution positions NeoAI Datacenter as a planned high performance computing node in South Korea. The facility is also intended to serve enterprise AI workloads across East Asia, supporting applications that require high density compute resources and localized processing capabilities. Through its focus on AI infrastructure, NeoAI Datacenter reflects the increasing development of specialized facilities designed specifically for the computational requirements of large language models and advanced artificial intelligence applications.
