Project Overview

The REN Ermesinde Data Center, also known as RENTELECOM Ermesinde, is a carrier-neutral colocation, disaster recovery and telecommunications gateway operated by RENTELECOM, the telecommunications and IT business unit of REN, Redes Energéticas Nacionais. Located at Rua das Agras Novas, 46, in Ermesinde, within the Valongo municipality of the Greater Porto region, Portugal, the facility serves as an important technical and interconnection node for Northern Portugal. The purpose-built site provides approximately 1,400 square meters of technical space for telecommunications, IT and digital infrastructure equipment, supporting organizations that require resilient hosting, connectivity and business continuity services. Its location within the Porto metropolitan area provides access to the region's telecommunications ecosystem and enables connectivity with wider Portuguese and Iberian networks. The facility incorporates resilient infrastructure designed to support continuous operation, including redundant electrical systems, static uninterruptible power supply equipment and backup diesel generation. N+1 precision thermal management helps maintain controlled environmental conditions for critical telecommunications and computing equipment. A key advantage of the Ermesinde facility is its integration with RENTELECOM's broader optical transport infrastructure, which is associated with REN's national energy network and provides high-capacity telecommunications routes across Portugal.
