Scala Data Centers Tamboré Campus

Status: Under Construction / Active Expansion (Multi-Phase)   |   Location: Tamboré, Barueri (Greater São Paulo), Brazil

Project Overview

The Scala Data Centers Tamboré Campus, located in the Greater São Paulo region, is the premier hyperscale development in Latin America and a crucial anchor for the entire region's digital economy. São Paulo is the undisputed core of the LATAM data center market, and Tamboré, specifically, has emerged as the leading cluster due to its excellent connectivity and power infrastructure availability.

Scala Data Centers, a regional powerhouse, has committed to a phased expansion that will transform the Tamboré site into one of the largest single data center campuses outside of the major North American and European hubs. The sheer scale of the planned capacity—exceeding 200 MW—is designed to exclusively meet the immense needs of major hyperscale cloud providers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, etc.), who require massive, dedicated footprints for their Latin American cloud regions.

The project is characterized by its sustainable build approach and unprecedented efficiency for the region. Scala is vertically integrated, meaning it designs, builds, and operates its own facilities, allowing for control over efficiency metrics. Notably, the project boasts one of the lowest PUE targets in Latin America, achieved through innovative design and the use of 100% renewable energy (through Power Purchase Agreements/I-RECs). Furthermore, the facility design emphasizes water-use efficiency (WUE) by utilizing advanced air-cooling methods in its contemporary facilities.

The campus is fully interconnected by Scala’s proprietary fiber optic network, which links all its facilities in the region and provides low-latency access to major cloud on-ramps and international cable landing stations on the Brazilian coast. This combination of massive, resilient capacity, vertical integration, and aggressive sustainability goals makes the Tamboré campus a cornerstone of the region's digital future.
