Project Overview

T5@Minneapolis is a 473,500-square-foot enterprise-grade data center and carrier hotel located at 1001 3rd Avenue South in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, providing large-scale colocation, interconnection, and high-density computing infrastructure for enterprises and network operators across the region. Originally constructed in 1998 as an ultra-secure operations and disaster recovery facility for Ameriprise and American Express, the six-story building features robust concrete construction designed to support mission-critical operations and fault-tolerant infrastructure. The facility provides an initial 10 MW of critical IT load, with expansion capability to approximately 30 MW, enabling the site to accommodate additional enterprise and high-density computing demand over time. Its electrical infrastructure is supported by approximately 36.5 MW of utility power delivered through dual diverse substation feeds from the Elliot Park and 5th Street substations, providing separate power pathways and supporting operational resilience. T5@Minneapolis also functions as a regional interconnection gateway, hosting more than 70 network providers and giving customers access to a broad ecosystem of telecommunications and connectivity services. Direct public cloud on-ramps through Megaport further support hybrid and multi-cloud architectures by connecting customer infrastructure with major cloud environments through high-capacity network services. The facility also supports advanced high-density cooling configurations, including Direct-to-Chip liquid cooling and Rear Door Heat Exchangers, allowing customers to deploy rack densities of more than 150 kW where infrastructure requirements demand it. Its downtown Minneapolis location provides proximity to major enterprise and network ecosystems while supporting regional connectivity and disaster recovery strategies. With its substantial building footprint, scalable IT capacity, diverse utility feeds, extensive carrier ecosystem, cloud connectivity, and advanced liquid cooling capabilities, T5@Minneapolis provides infrastructure for enterprise, network, cloud, and high-performance computing workloads.
