Located in Pecos, Reeves County, within the resource-rich West Texas corridor, this multibillion-dollar development establishes a massive 2,000 MW (2 GW) capacity envelope designed to support the intense demand for next-generation artificial intelligence and advanced large-scale cloud services. At initial launch, the hyperscale campus will operate entirely "behind the meter," utilizing a dedicated, co-located natural gas power plant funded completely by Microsoft. This independent setup allows the massive 2 GW facility to bring heavy AI clusters online rapidly without pulling from or straining the local public Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid. To address environmental criteria, the on-site generation turbines will integrate advanced emissions controls, including Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems, to keep nitrogen oxide outputs to a minimum. Over the long term, Microsoft plans to work with local utilities to coordinate an integrated connection back into the regional transmission network.
