HCLTech Enters AI Data Center Market With INR 3,500 (~USD 366 Million) Crore Investment and Full-Stack AI Platform

Noida, India - July 13, 2026 - HCLTech has entered the AI data center market with plans to invest up to INR 3,500 crore (~USD 366 million) to build AI-focused data center infrastructure, marking a strategic expansion beyond IT services as enterprises and governments increase investments in sovereign AI and large-scale computing capacity.

The company stated that the investment will support the launch of its new full-stack AI offering, an end-to-end platform designed to provide customers with AI infrastructure, cloud services, data engineering, AI platforms, applications, and managed operations through a single, integrated ecosystem. The proposed investment will be made through newly established subsidiaries dedicated to the AI infrastructure business and is expected to support data center capacity of up to 50 MW, with room for future expansion.

Unlike traditional IT outsourcing providers, HCLTech is positioning itself across the entire AI value chain by combining physical infrastructure with software and consulting capabilities. The company said its platform is intended to support deployments across public cloud, on-premises, hybrid, and sovereign AI environments, enabling organizations to move AI initiatives from pilot projects to production-scale operations.

The move reflects a broader shift within the digital infrastructure industry, where demand for AI-ready facilities has prompted technology companies to invest directly in data center capacity rather than relying solely on third-party providers. AI workloads require significantly higher compute density, specialized networking, and advanced cooling systems than conventional enterprise applications, driving sustained investment in purpose-built AI infrastructure.

HCLTech's announcement follows several AI-focused initiatives unveiled by the company this year, including its strategic investment in Indian AI startup Sarvam AI and a series of enterprise AI engagements designed to accelerate the deployment of next-generation AI services. The company also recently secured a major AI-led transformation contract valued at more than USD 1 billion, reinforcing its strategy of expanding beyond conventional IT services into AI platforms and infrastructure.

For the data center industry, the investment signals another example of enterprise technology providers becoming infrastructure owners to meet growing demand for localized AI computing. Governments and regulated industries are increasingly seeking sovereign AI capabilities that require domestically hosted infrastructure, creating opportunities for providers capable of delivering both AI platforms and the underlying compute environment.

The announcement comes as AI infrastructure investment accelerates globally, with hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprise technology firms racing to secure power, land, and computing capacity. By adding AI data centers to its portfolio, HCLTech aims to participate across the full AI ecosystem, from infrastructure deployment and cloud operations to application development and managed services.

As organizations transition from experimental AI projects to production-scale deployments, integrated offerings that combine AI-ready data centers with software and operational expertise are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting enterprise digital transformation and the next generation of AI workloads.
