Project Overview

The TM Nxera Iskandar Puteri Data Center is a flagship hyperscale artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure campus planned across a 41.75-acre (16.9-hectare) freehold site on Jalan Kampung Lalang in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia. Developed by ST Dynamo DC, a joint venture between Telekom Malaysia (51%) and Singtel’s regional data center business Nxera (49%), the project is positioned to support growing demand for cloud computing, AI workloads, and sovereign digital infrastructure across Southeast Asia. Its location within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) offers strategic proximity to Singapore’s established technology and financial services ecosystem while providing access to Johor’s expanding industrial and digital infrastructure market. The campus is designed to contribute to the region’s growing hyperscale capacity as cloud providers, enterprises, and AI developers seek scalable computing environments to support increasingly data-intensive operations. Its substantial land area provides scope for large-scale development and phased capacity expansion, subject to project implementation, power availability, and infrastructure requirements. The partnership combines Telekom Malaysia’s telecommunications expertise and domestic network reach with Nxera’s regional data center capabilities, creating a platform intended to serve customers across Malaysia and neighboring markets. The project also reflects the increasing importance of sovereign AI infrastructure, which can help organizations meet data governance, regulatory, and local computing requirements. As generative AI, machine learning, and cloud-based applications become more widespread, demand for high-density computing and reliable connectivity continues to rise. The Iskandar Puteri campus could strengthen Johor’s position as an emerging data center destination, benefiting from its proximity to Singapore, regional business connectivity, and expanding investment in digital infrastructure. Its long-term success will depend on reliable energy supply, efficient cooling, network resilience, and sustainable development practices. Overall, the project highlights Malaysia’s growing role in Southeast Asia’s hyperscale cloud and AI infrastructure ecosystem.
