AirTrunk JHB1 Johor Bahru
Status: Operational (Phase 1) / Expanding | Location: Jalan Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Project Overview
AirTrunk JHB1 is a massive 150MW+ hyperscale data center campus located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Spanning over 10.3 hectares (approx. 25 acres), it serves as a critical digital gateway for Southeast Asia, strategically positioned to handle the spillover demand from land-constrained Singapore. JHB1 is a flagship "AI-ready" facility, featuring AirTrunk’s pioneering direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology alongside traditional indirect evaporative cooling. This allows the facility to support the extreme power densities required for high-performance computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence workloads.
A standout feature of JHB1 is its industry-leading design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15, making it one of the most sustainable and efficient data centers in the region. The project is backed by a massive 132kV private substation and incorporates a "solar-ready" roof capable of generating over 1MW of onsite renewable power. Through a strategic partnership with Malaysia’s utility provider (TNB) and a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA), the campus is a central pillar in Malaysia’s "MADANI" initiative to transform Johor into a premier global AI and cloud hub.
