The AirTrunk JHB1 Hyperscale Data Center Campus represents a major 150+ MW hyperscale digital infrastructure development located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Spanning more than 10.3 hectares (approximately 25 acres), the campus serves as a strategic digital gateway for Southeast Asia and is positioned to capture growing demand from land-constrained Singapore. Designed as an AI-ready hyperscale facility, JHB1 incorporates advanced direct-to-chip liquid cooling alongside traditional indirect evaporative cooling, enabling the campus to support the extreme power densities associated with high-performance computing and artificial intelligence workloads. The development forms part of Johor’s rapidly expanding data center ecosystem and strengthens Malaysia’s position as an emerging regional hub for cloud and AI infrastructure.

Designed for Hyperscale and AI Workloads

JHB1 is engineered specifically to support high-density hyperscale, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing workloads. AirTrunk’s deployment of direct-to-chip liquid cooling provides an advanced thermal management solution for increasingly dense GPU and accelerated computing environments, while indirect evaporative cooling supports efficient operation across conventional workloads. This combination allows the campus to accommodate demanding AI training, inference, cloud computing, and HPC applications requiring significantly greater compute density than traditional enterprise deployments. The AI-ready architecture positions JHB1 to support global hyperscalers and technology customers as demand for accelerated computing continues to expand across Southeast Asia.

Large-Scale Infrastructure and Economic Impact

With more than 150 MW of capacity across a site exceeding 10.3 hectares, JHB1 represents a substantial addition to Malaysia’s hyperscale digital infrastructure supply. The campus features a design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15, highlighting its focus on energy-efficient operation and optimized cooling performance. The project is supported by a dedicated 132 kV private substation and incorporates a solar-ready roof capable of supporting more than 1 MW of onsite renewable generation. Through collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA), the development also supports Malaysia’s broader ambition to attract AI and cloud infrastructure investment. JHB1 contributes to Johor’s emergence as a major hyperscale market and supports the country’s strategy of establishing the region as a premier destination for AI and cloud computing.
