Project Summary

AirTrunk Mars Road 3-4 Apollo Place 140MW Hyperscale Data Centre Sydney

Status: Active Development / EIS Preparation Phase (SSD-108835458)   |   Location: 3–4 Apollo Place & 87–91 Mars Road, Lane Cove West, NSW 2066, Australia

Project Overview

The AirTrunk Mars Road Data Centre, designated under New South Wales State Significant Development application SSD-108835458, is a major hyperscale digital infrastructure expansion being spearheaded by AirTrunk in Lane Cove West, Greater Sydney, New South Wales 2066, Australia. The development spans 3–4 Apollo Place and 87–91 Mars Road within the Lane Cove West Business Park, strengthening AirTrunk’s established multi-facility presence in the area alongside its existing Sirius Road facility and approved Apollo Place development. Master-planned to provide up to 140.0 MW of total critical IT load capacity, the project is designed across a five-story, multi-building footprint reaching approximately 37.4 meters in height and is intended to accommodate hyperscale cloud platforms, artificial intelligence computing, enterprise applications, and other high-density workloads. Its location within one of Sydney’s established technology and telecommunications corridors provides access to major network infrastructure and connectivity routes serving Macquarie Park, the Sydney CBD, and broader metropolitan markets. The facility is engineered around Tier III-equivalent high-availability principles, incorporating resilient electrical and mechanical systems designed to support continuous data center operations while enabling maintenance of critical infrastructure. On-site high-voltage subtransmission connections are planned to provide the electrical infrastructure required for the campus, supported by 2N/N+1 static UPS configurations and approximately 120 standby emergency generators to provide additional resilience during utility interruptions. The cooling architecture incorporates high-efficiency closed-loop precision cooling systems with readiness for direct-to-chip liquid cooling, allowing the facility to accommodate the increasing thermal densities associated with AI accelerators, GPU clusters, and advanced computing platforms. Carrier-neutral fiber routes provide connectivity opportunities to multiple network operators and telecommunications systems, with links extending toward Macquarie Park, Sydney’s central business district, and subsea cable landing infrastructure. By combining substantial IT capacity, resilient electrical systems, advanced cooling capabilities, and strategic network connectivity, the AirTrunk Mars Road development reinforces Lane Cove West’s position as an important hyperscale and AI infrastructure cluster within the Sydney data center market.
