Project Overview

The Amazon Horizon Junction Data Center, also referred to as Project Horizon Junction or the AWS Floydada Campus, is a large-scale hyperscale cloud and artificial intelligence data center development located at 1752 County Road 241, Floydada, Texas 79235, USA, with the project site spanning approximately 1752–1782 County Road 241 in Floyd County. Developed and operated by Amazon Data Services, Inc., the facility represents a significant expansion of Amazon Web Services’ infrastructure in West Texas and is being developed on a greenfield site northeast of Lubbock that was previously occupied by local country club grounds. The planned campus consists of multiple single-story data center buildings, with at least four identified modules designated Buildings A, B, C, and D. Each building is expected to encompass approximately 189,060 square feet, resulting in a combined building footprint of more than 750,000 square feet across the currently identified structures. The scale and configuration of the development indicate that the campus is intended to support substantial cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other high-density digital workloads associated with AWS services. Located within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid region, the project is designed around an estimated critical IT load of approximately 150 MW, while total grid capacity is expected to reach roughly 200 MW to accommodate facility infrastructure, cooling systems, electrical losses, and other supporting requirements. The development also benefits from Floydada’s relatively open land environment and its position within the broader West Texas power and technology landscape. With its large physical footprint, substantial electrical capacity, and multi-building configuration, the Amazon Horizon Junction Data Center is positioned as a major hyperscale infrastructure project supporting the continued expansion of AWS cloud and AI computing capabilities in Texas.
