AWS Thailand: $5B 3-AZ Cloud & AI Region Bangkok
Status: Operational (Launched Jan 2025) / Expanding (2026) | Location: Bangkok, Metropolitan Area
Project Overview
Officially launched on January 8, 2025, the AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region is the result of a $5 billion (approx. 190 billion Baht) 15-year investment roadmap. As of March 2026, AWS has confirmed that adoption has exceeded initial projections, with 32% of Thai enterprises now utilizing the local infrastructure for "Agentic AI" workloads. The region consists of three physically separated Availability Zones (AZs), each with redundant power, cooling, and physical security. This setup allows Thai organizations particularly in highly regulated sectors like banking (e.g., SCB, Bangkok Bank) and government to keep sensitive data within national borders while achieving single-digit millisecond latency. The investment is projected to contribute $10 billion to Thailand's GDP and support 11,000 local jobs annually. In 2026, the focus has shifted toward "Agentic AI" platforms, integrating AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips locally to support autonomous AI agents for the Thai market.
