The CloudHQ Cosmosquare Campus, also known as the KIX Campus, is a flagship hyperscale data center development in Nanko Kita, Suminoe Ward, Osaka, Japan, jointly developed and operated by CloudHQ and ESR Group through a strategic partnership. The approximately US$2 billion campus is designed to provide large-scale digital infrastructure for hyperscale cloud providers, enterprises, and AI-driven workloads across the Kansai region. Located less than 10 kilometers from major internet and telecommunications exchanges in central Osaka, the campus offers low-latency connectivity to the city’s core business and digital infrastructure hubs. The development spans approximately 1.34 million square feet, or 125,000 square meters, of built area and is being delivered in three phases identified by CloudHQ as KIX1, KIX2, and KIX3 and by ESR as OS1, OS2, and OS3. When fully developed, the campus is planned to provide approximately 130 MW of total data center capacity, including around 96 MW of critical IT load. The first facility, OS1, had its core and shell completed in August 2024 and subsequently received LEED Gold certification for its sustainable design and construction. The campus is designed to support high-density computing environments and the growing requirements of cloud services and artificial intelligence applications. Its strategic location, scalable capacity, and proximity to Osaka’s major network exchanges make Cosmosquare an important addition to the region’s data center ecosystem. The development also addresses limited availability of suitable land and infrastructure within central Osaka by providing hyperscale capacity close to the city’s existing digital and commercial hubs.
