The ESR Cosmosquare OS1 is the first 25 MW facility within the larger US$2 billion, 130 MW Cosmosquare Data Centre Campus, developed through a partnership between ESR Group and CloudHQ in Osaka, Japan. Located at 1 Chome-6 Nankokita in Suminoe Ward, Osaka, the facility is strategically positioned within approximately 10 kilometers of the city’s major commercial districts, telecommunications infrastructure, and carrier exchange hubs. OS1 provides approximately 19.2 MW of critical IT load capacity and is designed to serve the growing requirements of hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise customers, and high-density artificial intelligence workloads across the Kansai market. The facility’s core and shell were completed in the third quarter of 2024, while the project was originally scheduled for full fit-out and service commencement in mid-2025. Its development forms the first phase of the wider Cosmosquare campus, which is planned to expand through additional facilities to meet increasing demand for large-scale digital infrastructure in Osaka. OS1 incorporates structural and engineering measures designed to withstand Japan’s challenging seismic conditions, supporting reliable operation in a region exposed to earthquake risks. The facility was also designed with sustainability objectives and targeted LEED Gold certification. Its high-density infrastructure is intended to accommodate modern cloud and AI computing environments, including GPU-intensive applications, enterprise colocation, and hyperscale deployments. With its proximity to Osaka’s established network ecosystem and its position within a large-scale expandable campus, ESR Cosmosquare OS1 strengthens the city’s role as a major data center market in Japan and provides scalable infrastructure for the continued growth of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and other data-intensive digital services.
