CyrusOne FRA5 Frankfurt Hanau Campus: 54MW Hyperscale & AI Hub

Status: Operational / Active Phased Development & Expansion   |   Location: Industrieweg 45, 63451 Hanau, Hesse, Germany (Metropolitan Frankfurt Metro Area)

Project Overview

CyrusOne’s FRA5 Frankfurt Campus in Hanau is a high-density, mission-critical digital infrastructure facility strategically located approximately 25 km east of central Frankfurt, positioning it within one of Europe’s most important data center and connectivity markets. Delivering 54 MW of critical IT capacity across two purpose-built three-storey data centre buildings and approximately 18,000 m² of technical space, the campus is designed to support hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise colocation customers, financial institutions, and organisations running artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. Engineered for scalability and operational resilience, FRA5 features advanced power distribution, redundant electrical systems, and flexible infrastructure capable of accommodating high-density deployments and next-generation GPU clusters. The campus benefits from robust regional utility infrastructure, providing reliable, high-capacity power to meet the growing demands of cloud computing and AI applications. Its strategic location also enables ultra-low-latency connectivity to DE-CIX Frankfurt, one of the world’s largest Internet Exchange points, along with access to multiple carrier networks and leading cloud platforms, supporting seamless hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. Sustainability is a key aspect of the campus design, with closed-loop dry cooling systems significantly reducing water consumption while maintaining efficient thermal performance, complemented by air-cooled uninterruptible power supply (UPS) modules that enhance energy efficiency and operational reliability even during periods of high ambient temperatures. Combined with enterprise-grade physical security, resilient infrastructure, advanced connectivity, and environmentally responsible engineering, CyrusOne’s FRA5 Frankfurt Campus provides a future-ready platform for organisations deploying mission-critical cloud services, AI infrastructure, and data-intensive digital applications in one of Europe’s premier digital hubs.
