CyrusOne Freestone: 760MW AI-Ready Powered Land Texas

Status: Active Development / Construction Prep   |   Location: Freestone County (near Fairfield, TX)

Project Overview

The CyrusOne Freestone campus is a flagship example of the "Powered Land" strategy, designed to bypass the traditional bottlenecks of utility grid queues. Officially expanded via a massive 760MW agreement on February 9, 2026, the project is co-located directly adjacent to Calpine’s existing Freestone Energy Center. This "behind-the-meter" style integration allows CyrusOne to tap into massive power reserves with superior speed-to-market compared to greenfield sites dependent on standard transmission builds.

The campus is architected for Intelliscale™, CyrusOne’s purpose-built AI infrastructure solution. It is specifically designed to support high-density racks required for large language model (LLM) training and inference. By utilizing the co-located power generation, the site offers enhanced reliability and the ability to "curtail" or manage load during ERCOT grid emergencies, acting as a stabilizer for the Texas energy market while maintaining 99.999% uptime for its hyperscale tenants.
