Data Foundry The Data Ranch Austin 60MW Campus

Status: Operational   |   Location: 4100 Smith School Rd, Austin, TX 78744, USA

Project Overview

The Data Foundry The Data Ranch campus, located at 4100 Smith School Road in southeast Austin, Texas, represents a major 40-acre master-planned digital infrastructure development designed to support enterprise colocation, high-density artificial intelligence computing, public cloud deployments, and other mission-critical workloads. The campus houses the Texas 1 and Texas 2 facilities, collectively encompassing more than 380,000 square feet of hardened concrete building space and providing approximately 60 megawatts of critical IT power capacity, with infrastructure designed to support future expansion toward 100 megawatts. Utility power is delivered through dual independent 138-kilovolt underground transmission feeds sourced from two separate Austin Energy substations, creating diverse electrical pathways and strengthening overall grid resilience. Concurrently maintainable 2N uninterruptible power supply modules provide redundant backup protection for critical computing equipment, while dedicated standby emergency diesel generators with extensive multi-day fuel storage are designed to maintain operations during extended utility interruptions. The campus is engineered for high-density deployments supporting power requirements of up to 50 kilowatts per cabinet, making it suitable for advanced enterprise servers, accelerated computing systems, and emerging AI infrastructure. Thermal management is provided through waterless closed-loop chilling infrastructure combined with high-efficiency air-handling systems, helping maintain stable conditions across raised-access data halls while reducing dependence on water-intensive cooling methods. Strategically positioned near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, The Data Ranch also functions as a major carrier-neutral interconnection hub within the Central Texas technology ecosystem. Diverse subterranean fiber entrances provide resilient network pathways, while direct cloud-edge cross-connects enable low-latency access to cloud platforms and enterprise networks. Native connectivity to more than 17 global and regional telecommunications providers further expands the facility's network reach. Through its combination of substantial power capacity, redundant utility infrastructure, advanced cooling, high-density readiness, and extensive carrier connectivity, The Data Ranch serves as a significant digital infrastructure platform supporting Austin's expanding cloud, AI, and enterprise technology market.
