Status: Under Construction (Initial Phase Piling & Shell) | Location: Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland (Greater Dublin Area)
The Echelon DUB20 Hyperscale Campus is a flagship project that directly addresses the dual challenge facing the Irish data center market: the need for massive hyperscale capacity and the increasing pressure for sustainable power solutions. Strategically located in Arklow, County Wicklow, approximately an hour south of Dublin's traditional data center cluster, the project secured one of the country's most significant power connections, avoiding the power constraints that have limited expansion in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA).
The site is master-planned for a total of 204 MW of IT load capacity across multiple buildings on a vast 100-acre site. The first phase under construction will deliver 90 MW of firm IT capacity by Q3 2026. This scale is facilitated by a dedicated 220kV Grid Substation and an extensive on-site Energy Centre capable of generating up to 293 MW of power. This infrastructure is a crucial component, providing the high reliability required for the facility’s Tier IV design intent and offering customers unparalleled power resilience, including highly reliable redundancy.
Sustainability is a key driver for DUB20, which is being marketed as one of Europe's "greenest" large data center sites. The facility is designed for an ultra-low PUE target of less than 1.20, utilizing advanced Indirect Evaporative Cooling systems that leverage Ireland's temperate climate to maximize free cooling hours and significantly reduce energy consumption. More importantly, the campus is positioned to integrate directly with large-scale renewable energy projects. Customers have the option for Direct Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with local wind and solar generators, effectively creating an "Energy Hub" that promotes the build-out of new renewable capacity in the region, thereby balancing the data center's energy draw on the national grid.
The campus acts as a vital connectivity gateway, boasting access to over seven diverse fiber carriers, ensuring robust, low-latency links not only to the main Dublin metropolitan hubs but also direct connections to key subsea cable landing points that link Ireland to the UK, Europe, and North America. By combining massive scale, Tier IV reliability, and pioneering renewable energy integration, the DUB20 campus is set to solidify the long-term viability of Ireland as a critical hub for global cloud and digital services.
