Elea BEL1: First 100MW Amazon AI Data Center Brazil

Status: Announced / Permitting & Initial Site Prep   |   Location: Belém, Pará State

Project Overview

The Elea Belém Amazon AI Node (BEL1) stands as a landmark infrastructure achievement, marking the first major migration of high-density artificial intelligence computing into South America's northern territory. Officially launched on June 26, 2026, via a strategic partnership between Elea Data Centers and Axia Energia, this project addresses the severe capacity constraints limiting traditional tech hubs in Southeast Brazil. Positioned in Belém, Pará state, the host city for the United Nations COP30 climate conference, BEL1 is architected from the ground up to establish an alternative digital gateway, lowering processing latency across the Amazon Basin while reducing long-term data infrastructure inequality throughout the continent. Environmental integration and strict green resource management dictate every aspect of the BEL1 design. Because high-density graphics processing unit (GPU) server configurations dump enormous thermal loads, Elea has designed the facility to run on specialized hybrid air-and-liquid thermal architectures. To meet strict sustainability benchmarks matching the fragile surrounding Amazon ecosystem, the facility operates with an optimized target power usage effectiveness (PUE) and zero continuous industrial water consumption. Critically, 100% of the massive electricity needed to power the facility is supplied directly by Axia Energia, leveraging the hemisphere's largest network of run-of-river hydro and wind assets to ensure completely carbon-free high-performance compute cycles.
