Project Overview

The Equinix CH7 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center, located at 111 Plaza Drive in Westmont, Illinois, serves as a strategic enterprise colocation and interconnection hub within the western suburbs of Greater Chicago. Encompassing more than 46,000 square feet of facility space, including nearly 30,000 square feet of raised-floor colocation capacity, the single-story reinforced concrete facility is designed to provide approximately 12 megawatts of utility capacity and up to 10 megawatts of critical IT load. The facility supports a diverse range of mission-critical workloads, including financial services, software platforms, global corporate networks, cloud connectivity, edge computing, and enterprise applications. Electrical infrastructure is centered on dedicated high-voltage utility feeds, supported by online double-conversion uninterruptible power supply systems configured with 2N redundancy and standby diesel generators designed to provide extended operational autonomy during utility interruptions. Environmental management is delivered through precision computer room air-conditioning systems with additional cooling redundancy, while hot-aisle and cold-aisle containment configurations help optimize airflow and maintain stable operating conditions across secure server suites. Its Westmont location provides the advantage of being outside many of downtown Chicago’s concentrated infrastructure and environmental risks while maintaining direct access to major metropolitan telecommunications corridors. Equinix CH7 operates as a carrier-neutral interconnection environment, providing customers with extensive cross-connect capabilities and access to Equinix Fabric, financial exchanges, telecommunications networks, and major public cloud provider backbones. Its strategic connectivity enables enterprises to establish direct, low-latency connections between colocation environments, cloud platforms, financial markets, and distributed corporate infrastructure.
