Equinix SP7: $110M AI-Ready São Paulo IBX® Facility
Status: Under Construction / Active Fit-out (April 2026) | Location: -23.589496
Project Overview
Equinix is accelerating the development of SP7, its latest International Business Exchange™ (IBX) data center in São Paulo, to address rapidly growing demand for AI-driven and hybrid cloud infrastructure across Latin America. Purpose-built for next-generation workloads, SP7 incorporates advanced design features such as liquid-cooling readiness and high-density power configurations, enabling enterprises to efficiently run GPU-intensive applications like machine learning and large-scale data analytics. Strategically, the facility will be interconnected with Equinix’s existing SP2, SP3, and SP4 sites through a robust private fiber mesh, creating a highly resilient and low-latency ecosystem. This connectivity gives customers seamless access to a digital marketplace of more than 1,100 companies, including cloud providers, financial institutions, and network services. Additionally, SP7’s proximity to key subsea cable systems such as Seabras-1 and Monet strengthens international connectivity, making it a critical hub for global data exchange. The project is being financed through Equinix’s Green Bond program, reinforcing its sustainability goals, including a commitment to matching 100% of its energy consumption in Brazil with renewable sources. Altogether, SP7 positions Equinix to support the region’s digital transformation with scalable, high-performance, and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
