Equinix ST5 Santiago IBX Data Center: Hyperscale Colocation & AI Hub in Chile

Status: Under Construction / Active Development   |   Location: Av. la OraciΓ³n, Pudahuel, Santiago, RegiΓ³n Metropolitana, 9020000, Chile

Project Overview

Equinix ST5 is a flagship $130 million greenfield International Business Exchange (IBX) carrier-neutral colocation data center strategically located on Avenida La Oración in the Pudahuel district of Santiago, Chile, close to Santiago International Airport and major transportation and telecommunications corridors. Representing Equinix's fifth data center in Chile, the facility significantly expands the company's digital infrastructure platform in one of Latin America's fastest-growing cloud and interconnection markets. Developed on a 42,400-square-meter campus, ST5 encompasses approximately 24,420 square meters of gross floor area across two purpose-built floors housing 16 high-density data halls designed to accommodate enterprise, hyperscale, financial services, telecommunications, content delivery, and public sector workloads. The facility has been engineered to support next-generation artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and high-performance computing (HPC) deployments with infrastructure that is Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling (DLC) ready, enabling customers to deploy ultra-high-density GPU clusters while maintaining optimal thermal efficiency and operational performance. Resilient electrical and mechanical systems, redundant utility feeds, energy-efficient cooling technologies, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, backup generators, enterprise-grade physical security, and continuous environmental monitoring provide the reliability required for mission-critical applications. As a carrier-neutral IBX facility, ST5 offers direct access to a diverse ecosystem of telecommunications providers, internet service providers, network operators, and digital service partners. Through Equinix Fabric, customers can establish secure, private, and low-latency connections to leading public cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, while Metro Connect services seamlessly interconnect ST5 with Equinix ST1, ST2, ST3, and ST4 across the Santiago metropolitan area. This highly connected ecosystem enables organizations to deploy hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, improve business continuity, accelerate digital transformation, and support AI-driven innovation. By combining scalable hyperscale-ready infrastructure, advanced cooling capabilities, and world-class interconnection services, Equinix ST5 serves as a future-ready digital infrastructure hub supporting the continued growth of Chile's cloud economy and Latin America's expanding digital ecosystem.
