Ferrovial MAD01 is a 40 MW IT hyperscale data center facility developed by Ferrovial Digital Infrastructure (FDI) in Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain, representing the inaugural phase of a campus initiative backed by more than €1 billion in planned investment. The facility covers nearly 22,000 square meters of built area across a 32,300 square meter site and is designed to support high-density digital infrastructure requirements associated with artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, cloud platforms, and other compute-intensive workloads. MAD01 incorporates advanced direct liquid cooling technology to manage the thermal loads generated by high-density computing systems, providing an infrastructure platform suited to evolving AI and HPC deployments. High-efficiency power distribution further supports the facility's operational requirements by improving the delivery and management of electricity across the technical environment. The development is directly connected to Madrid's primary dark fiber backbones, providing access to high-capacity telecommunications routes and supporting low-latency connectivity for cloud providers, enterprises, content platforms, and other digital infrastructure users. The facility operates with 100% certified renewable energy, enabling customers to utilize a power supply aligned with renewable energy and sustainability requirements while supporting the energy-intensive nature of hyperscale computing. Its location in Alcobendas places MAD01 within the Madrid metropolitan technology and business ecosystem, providing connectivity to established telecommunications infrastructure and regional enterprise markets. The project also carries a Project of Special Interest designation, supporting streamlined integration within the region's broader digital infrastructure development framework. As the first phase of a larger campus initiative, MAD01 establishes an initial 40 MW platform with infrastructure designed to accommodate advanced computing requirements and future digital capacity expansion. The combination of hyperscale capacity, direct liquid cooling, efficient power distribution, renewable energy sourcing, dark fiber connectivity, and strategic metropolitan positioning creates a platform for AI, HPC, cloud, and enterprise workloads within Southern Europe's expanding data center ecosystem.
