DC Mudarra 160MW Data Center Valladolid Spain

Status: Announced / Environmental Impact Assessment & Administrative Phase   |   Location: Adjacent to San Lorenzo Wind Farms, Near La Mudarra Substation, 47660 TorrelobatΓ³n, Valladolid, Spain

Project Overview

DC Mudarra is a large-scale 160 MW IT hyperscale and artificial intelligence data center campus developed by Spanish wind power group Vapat in Torrelobatón near La Mudarra, Valladolid, Spain. The master-planned development spans a site footprint of up to 250 hectares adjacent to Vapat's San Lorenzo wind farms and comprises two principal data center facilities containing sixteen 10 MW technical IT rooms. The scale of the campus provides substantial infrastructure capacity for high-density AI training, inference, hyperscale cloud computing, and other power-intensive digital workloads. DC Mudarra is designed around a direct renewable self-consumption model, allowing the data center campus to operate alongside on-site wind generation while also incorporating hybrid solar and energy storage capacity to diversify its renewable electricity supply. Direct grid access through the strategic La Mudarra electrical substation provides an additional power connection and supports operational flexibility as computing demand and energy requirements evolve. The electrical architecture incorporates N+1 and 2N redundancy configurations to provide resilience across critical power systems and support continuous operation of mission-critical workloads. Closed-loop direct liquid cooling is designed to manage the substantial thermal output associated with extreme AI rack densities and advanced computing equipment. Connectivity infrastructure includes dual Meet-Me-Rooms, providing diverse interconnection points for telecommunications carriers, cloud providers, network operators, and enterprise customers. Low-latency fiber routes connect the campus with Spain's primary digital infrastructure corridors, supporting high-bandwidth data transmission and efficient access to regional technology markets. Its location in Valladolid also places the development within a broader renewable energy environment while providing access to Spain's national digital infrastructure network. The combination of large-scale IT capacity, co-located renewable generation, hybrid energy storage, grid connectivity, redundant power infrastructure, liquid cooling, and low-latency fiber connectivity establishes DC Mudarra as a specialized platform for next-generation AI, HPC, and hyperscale cloud workloads.
