Goodman Tsukuba Campus Data Center Tsukuba Tech Central Ibaraki Greater Tokyo Japan

Status: Under Construction   |   Location: Prefectural Road No. 213, 300-3256 Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, Greater Tokyo, Japan

Project Overview

The Goodman Tsukuba Campus, officially known as Tsukuba Tech Central, is a large-scale master-planned hyperscale data center development located on a 45-hectare site along Prefectural Road No. 213 in Tsukuba City, within the Greater Tokyo region of Japan. Developed, owned, and operated by Goodman Group, the campus is designed to support the rapidly expanding requirements of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and other data-intensive digital services. The master plan is structured around up to 1 gigawatt of potential capacity, providing substantial room for long-term expansion as demand for hyperscale and AI infrastructure increases across Japan. The development is designed to secure electrical supply directly through Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), while dedicated dark-fiber conduits provide connectivity between the campus and major Tokyo interconnection hubs, supporting high-bandwidth and low-latency data transmission. Sustainability is incorporated into the campus design through liquid-cooling infrastructure that utilizes industrial water, helping reduce reliance on local groundwater resources while supporting the thermal requirements of high-density computing environments. Beyond its data center functions, the development incorporates a substantial public disaster-prevention hub and community amenity area spanning approximately 45,000 square meters, adding broader resilience and social infrastructure benefits to the project. With major site-wide civil works completed and an initial 50-megawatt phase supported by a long-term lease with a global hyperscale customer, Tsukuba Tech Central represents a significant digital infrastructure investment in the Greater Tokyo area. Its combination of scalable capacity, dedicated utility infrastructure, advanced cooling, extensive fiber connectivity, and community-focused development positions the campus as an important emerging hub for Japan’s next generation of cloud and AI infrastructure.
