Google Project Hera El Marqués: $2B Mexico AI Hub

Status: Under Construction / MEP Integration (April 2026)   |   Location: El Marqués Industrial Park Corridor, El Marqués

Project Overview

Project Hera is Google’s $2 billion technical response to rapidly growing demand for AI and Industry 4.0 workloads in Mexico. Positioned within a broader $18 billion national digital infrastructure expansion, the facility is purpose-built to support next-generation compute environments, including Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and Google TPU v6 clusters. This architecture enables high-density AI training and inference, aligning with hyperscale performance requirements across enterprise and cloud ecosystems.

A key technical challenge addressed by the project is regional power reliability. Following grid constraint concerns highlighted by the Mexican Data Center Association (MEXDC) in early 2026, Google collaborated with the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) to strengthen transmission infrastructure across the Bajío region. This ensures stable, scalable energy delivery to support continuous high-load operations.

From a sustainability perspective, Project Hera introduces water-less cooling systems tailored for arid environments. The campus leverages a closed-loop, air-based cooling architecture that significantly reduces dependence on local aquifers, making it well-suited for desert climate conditions while aligning with global water conservation goals.
