iColo Nairobi Data Center Campus: 14MW Digital Realty Hub in Kenya

Status: Operational / Active Campus Expansion   |   Location: LRC Road, off Lang'ata South Road, Karen, Nairobi, Kenya

Project Overview

iColo’s Nairobi Data Center Campus, anchored by the NBO1 and NBO2 facilities, is a premier digital infrastructure hub strategically located in the Karen district of Nairobi, Kenya, serving as one of East Africa’s most important connectivity and cloud infrastructure gateways. Operating under Digital Realty’s global PlatformDIGITAL® ecosystem, the master-planned campus is designed to support the region’s rapidly growing demand for hyperscale cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high-performance computing (HPC), enterprise colocation, and digital transformation initiatives. The campus offers up to 14 MW of scalable IT power capacity across a 34,000-square-metre site, providing customers with resilient, future-ready infrastructure capable of supporting mission-critical workloads. As one of the region’s leading carrier-neutral facilities, the campus serves as a major interconnection hub by hosting the Kenya Internet Exchange Point (KIXP), enabling efficient domestic internet traffic exchange while reducing latency and transit costs. The facility also benefits from direct fiber backhaul connections to the subsea cable landing stations in Mombasa, providing high-speed international connectivity to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Customers gain access to more than 30 telecommunications carriers, internet service providers, and leading cloud service providers, enabling seamless hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. Combining scalable infrastructure, strategic network connectivity, carrier neutrality, and Digital Realty’s global PlatformDIGITAL® ecosystem, iColo’s Nairobi Data Center Campus provides a future-ready foundation for cloud expansion, AI innovation, and enterprise digital growth across East Africa.
