Project Overview
The IREN Bundey Data Center Campus is a major hyperscale artificial intelligence infrastructure development planned on approximately 1,300 acres in Bundey, South Australia, representing IREN’s first major digital infrastructure project in Australia. Designed with an ambitious capacity of up to 800 MW, the campus is intended to support ultra-high-density GPU computing environments for large-scale AI training, inference, and other accelerated computing workloads serving customers across Australia, the wider Asia-Pacific region, and global markets. The substantial site footprint provides significant room for phased development, allowing the campus to expand its computing and power infrastructure in line with the rapidly increasing demand for AI capacity. A central component of the project is its focus on high-density GPU clusters, which require significantly greater electrical and thermal management capabilities than conventional enterprise data centers. To address these requirements, the campus is expected to incorporate advanced liquid-cooling infrastructure capable of efficiently managing heat generated by densely packed AI computing systems. The development also benefits from access to South Australia’s electricity network, with the project supported by secured direct high-voltage substation connections designed to provide the substantial power required for large-scale computing operations.
