Iron Mountain AMS-1 Data Center Campus Expansion

Status: Operational / Active Multi-Phase Campus Expansion   |   Location: J.W. Lucasweg 35, 2031 BE Haarlem, Netherlands (23-acre campus)

Project Overview

Iron Mountain’s AMS-1 is a flagship 23-acre digital infrastructure campus located in Haarlem, approximately 20 kilometers from central Amsterdam, within the highly connected FLAP (Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Paris) digital corridor. As one of the few active hyperscale data center expansion projects in the Amsterdam metropolitan region, AMS-1 plays a critical role in meeting the increasing demand for cloud computing, enterprise colocation, and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The ongoing expansion significantly increases the campus’s capabilities, scaling its operational footprint from 13.1 MW to approximately 43.1 MW of total utility capacity while adding new high-density technical space designed for next-generation digital workloads. The campus is engineered to support enterprise cloud platforms, financial services organizations, and AI-driven applications requiring high-performance, low-latency infrastructure. As a carrier-neutral colocation facility, AMS-1 provides customers with access to a diverse ecosystem of network providers and direct connectivity to major internet exchanges, including AMS-IX and NL-ix, enabling fast and reliable data transmission across Europe and beyond. Sustainability is a core element of the campus, with operations powered by 100% renewable energy to support environmentally responsible digital infrastructure. By combining scalable power capacity, advanced connectivity, renewable energy, and AI-ready infrastructure, Iron Mountain’s AMS-1 campus strengthens Amsterdam’s position as one of Europe’s premier locations for hyperscale cloud services, financial technology, and next-generation artificial intelligence deployments.
