Project Overview
Iron Mountain’s AMS-2 is a major 10 MW purpose-built expansion within the company’s established 23-acre carrier-neutral data center campus in Haarlem, approximately 20 km from central Amsterdam, reinforcing its position as one of the Netherlands’ leading digital infrastructure hubs. The facility expands the campus’s total planned critical power capacity to nearly 43.1 MW across more than 30,000 m² of advanced technical space, providing scalable infrastructure for hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise customers, and AI-driven applications. Engineered with a modular, high-density design, AMS-2 is capable of supporting demanding generative AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads that require increased rack densities, enhanced cooling systems, and resilient power architecture. The data center offers exceptional connectivity through access to more than 60 network service providers, direct cloud on-ramps, and low-latency cross-connects to major internet exchanges, including AMS-IX and NL-ix, enabling rapid, secure, and reliable data transmission across Europe and global markets. Built with sustainability at its core, AMS-2 incorporates 24/7 carbon-free energy tracking to support customers’ environmental goals while being designed for future district heat recovery integration, allowing excess heat to be reused by nearby communities.
