Project Overview
Iron Mountain’s AZP-1 is a flagship hyperscale-ready data center located in East Phoenix, Arizona, spanning approximately 588,669 square feet across a 39-acre campus. Delivering 41 MW of critical IT capacity, the facility is strategically positioned as a major digital infrastructure hub for east-west internet traffic across the United States, making it an ideal location for hyperscale cloud providers, enterprises, content delivery networks, and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. AZP-1 is engineered to support high-density colocation environments with rack power capacities of up to 30 kW, enabling modern cloud, AI, and high-performance computing deployments. Designed with sustainability in mind, the facility operates on 100% renewable energy and targets a low design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of approximately 1.2, helping customers reduce operational costs and environmental impact. As a carrier-neutral campus, AZP-1 provides connectivity to more than 25 on-site network providers, offering resilient, low-latency access to regional and national telecommunications networks. The facility is interconnected through a dedicated 100 Gbps dark fiber ring with Iron Mountain’s AZP-2 and AZS-1 campuses in Scottsdale, creating a resilient metropolitan network with seamless access to cloud express on-ramps, hybrid IT platforms, disaster recovery services, and enterprise-grade interconnection solutions. Advanced security, scalable infrastructure, and redundant power and cooling systems further position AZP-1 as one of Arizona’s premier digital infrastructure facilities.
