Iron Mountain AZP-3 Phoenix Data Center: 48MW Sustainable Hyperscale Hub

Status: Fully Operational Hyperscale Hub   |   Location: 4802 E Van Buren St, Phoenix, AZ 85008, USA

Project Overview

Iron Mountain’s AZP-3 is a flagship hyperscale-ready data center located on a 39-acre campus in East Phoenix, Arizona, delivering 48 MW of critical IT capacity across approximately 547,000 square feet of purpose-built infrastructure. Designed to support hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise organizations, and next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads, the facility features approximately 21,000-square-foot data halls capable of supporting up to 6 MW of IT load per hall with flexible high-density power configurations to accommodate evolving compute requirements. AZP-2 is recognized as the first data center in North America to achieve a BREEAM-certified design, highlighting its commitment to sustainable construction and operational efficiency. Powered entirely by 100% certified renewable electricity through Iron Mountain’s Green Power Pass program, the facility is engineered to achieve a low annualised design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of approximately 1.20, reducing both energy consumption and carbon emissions. The campus is interconnected through dedicated high-capacity dark fiber rings with Iron Mountain’s AZP-1 facility in Phoenix and AZS-1 in Scottsdale, providing resilient metropolitan connectivity and enhanced redundancy. As a carrier-neutral facility, AZP-2 offers direct access to more than 40 network providers, major internet exchanges, and leading cloud express on-ramp services, enabling secure hybrid cloud deployments, enterprise interconnection, disaster recovery, and scalable digital infrastructure for mission-critical business and AI-driven applications.
