Iron Mountain MIA 1 Data Center 10MW Miami Colocation

Status: Operational   |   Location: 2925 NW 120th Terrace, Miami, FL 33167, USA

Project Overview

The Iron Mountain Data Centers MIA 1 facility, located at 2925 NW 120th Terrace in Miami, Florida, is a highly secure enterprise colocation and cloud interconnection facility designed to support mission-critical corporate, government, and digital infrastructure workloads. The purpose-built data center spans approximately 140,000 square feet and incorporates robust concrete construction engineered to meet stringent Category 5 hurricane wind standards, providing enhanced physical resilience against the severe weather conditions common to South Florida. The facility provides approximately 10 MW of critical power capacity, creating a substantial infrastructure platform for enterprises, government organizations, cloud platforms, financial institutions, and other customers requiring secure and continuously available IT environments. Its electrical infrastructure is designed around redundant utility feeds, reducing dependence on a single incoming power source and improving resilience during utility disruptions. Critical loads are further supported by 2N UPS configurations, providing fully redundant uninterruptible power infrastructure, while dedicated onsite emergency standby generators provide additional backup during prolonged utility outages. This layered electrical design is intended to maintain continuity for mission-critical workloads and reduce the risk of service interruption caused by equipment failures, utility disturbances, or severe weather events. Sustainability is another important aspect of MIA 1’s operating model. The facility is powered by 100 percent renewable energy, helping customers address environmental objectives while maintaining access to large-scale digital infrastructure. Advanced containment cooling systems are used to improve airflow management and thermal efficiency within the data center, helping control operating temperatures while supporting reliable performance of customer IT equipment. As a carrier-neutral facility, MIA 1 gives customers flexibility to select from multiple network providers and establish diverse connectivity paths based on their performance, redundancy, and geographic requirements. Its connectivity environment includes diverse fiber pathways, dark fiber cross-connects, and direct private connections to major global cloud providers, supporting hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, enterprise networking, and data-intensive applications. The facility’s Miami location also provides access to the region’s broader telecommunications ecosystem and international routes connecting North America with Latin America, the Caribbean, and other global markets. By combining hardened construction, substantial critical power capacity, redundant electrical systems, renewable energy, efficient cooling, and carrier-neutral connectivity, Iron Mountain MIA 1 provides a comprehensive infrastructure environment for organizations with demanding security, availability, and connectivity requirements. Overall, the facility represents a resilient and sustainability-focused data center platform serving mission-critical enterprise and government workloads while providing direct access to major cloud and telecommunications networks.
