Status: Operational / Enterprise Edge & Hosting Hub | Location: R. Maria Veleda 1, 1500-024 Carnide, Lisbon, Portugal
The MEO Carnide, also known as the Carnide Data Center and formerly operated as PT Prime Carnide or Altice Carnide, is an urban colocation, enterprise cloud, and telecommunications data center operated by MEO Empresas, part of Altice Portugal. Located at R. Maria Veleda 1 in the northern Carnide district of Lisbon, Portugal, the facility serves as an important edge infrastructure and hosting hub within MEO’s interconnected national data center network. Originally established under Portugal Telecom’s PT Prime operations in 2000, the facility has supported enterprise IT, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure requirements in the Lisbon region for more than two decades. MEO Carnide encompasses approximately 300 square meters of technical raised-floor white space, providing a controlled environment for servers, network equipment, telecommunications systems, and other mission-critical infrastructure. Built to Tier III-equivalent standards, the facility incorporates resilient systems designed to support high availability and continuous operations. Its infrastructure includes 24/7 physical security, dual-path power conditioning, and precision cooling to maintain stable conditions for sensitive IT and networking equipment. The facility also benefits from direct, low-latency fiber connectivity, enabling enterprise workloads to connect efficiently with MEO’s national backbone network and broader telecommunications infrastructure. Through these network links, customers can access major subsea cable gateways and other strategically positioned MEO facilities across Portugal. Connectivity with regional infrastructure such as MEO Picoas and MEO LDV further integrates Carnide into MEO’s wider distributed data center ecosystem, providing additional network reach and interconnection options. Its location within Lisbon also places the facility close to major enterprise and commercial areas, supporting organizations that require localized hosting and network connectivity. By combining resilient technical infrastructure, secure white space, low-latency fiber access, and integration with MEO’s national network, MEO Carnide remains an important component of Lisbon’s telecommunications and enterprise digital infrastructure landscape.
