Status: Approved (PSI Designation) / Land Reparceling & Pre-Construction | Location: Torrehierro Industrial Park Phase 2, Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, Spain
The Meta Data Center Campus Talavera, formally designated as a Proyecto de Singular Interés (PSI), is a planned hyperscale digital infrastructure development on an approximately 191-hectare, or 472-acre, site within the Torrehierro Phase 2 Industrial Park in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. Developed directly by Meta Platforms, Inc., the project represents a major expansion of Meta's European computing infrastructure and is intended to support the company's growing requirements for global application traffic, cloud platform services, artificial intelligence, and generative AI workloads. The master-planned campus is expected to provide between approximately 130,000 and 300,000 square metres of gross buildable area distributed across six multi-story data center buildings, creating a substantial digital infrastructure footprint within the industrial park. The scale of the development allows Meta to establish a phased computing environment capable of expanding alongside demand for online services and increasingly intensive AI processing requirements. The campus has an approved maximum grid power demand of approximately 248.0 MW, providing the electrical capacity necessary to operate large-scale computing equipment together with cooling, electrical, networking, and other supporting systems. Given the growing environmental focus surrounding large data center developments, the project incorporates closed-loop dry-air cooling technology designed to minimize operational water consumption compared with conventional water-intensive cooling systems. This approach is intended to reduce pressure on local water resources while maintaining the thermal performance required for high-density computing infrastructure. The development also includes an integrated solar photovoltaic installation intended to contribute renewable electricity toward the campus's operational energy requirements and help offset a portion of its power consumption. Its location in Talavera de la Reina provides Meta with a large development site within an established industrial environment while expanding the company's infrastructure presence in Southern Europe. With its extensive land area, multi-building configuration, substantial power allocation, water-conscious cooling strategy, and integrated renewable generation, the Meta Data Center Campus Talavera represents a major planned investment in European digital infrastructure and highlights the increasing role of large-scale facilities in supporting cloud services and next-generation AI workloads.
