Antimatter Nexus-1 | 100MW Distributed AI Neocloud Launch
Status: Groundbreaking / Launch Phase | Location: Distributed across Southern France
Project Overview
On May 4, 2026, the digital infrastructure world witnessed a paradigm shift with the launch of Antimatter, the world’s first vertically integrated "Neocloud." Headquartered in Cannes, France, with a planned global operations base in Hong Kong, Antimatter has bypassed the traditional multi-year wait for hyperscale campus construction. Instead, it has launched a network of 1,000 distributed micro-data centers designed specifically for the AI inference market. This launch, spearheaded by tech visionary David Gurlé, represents the first credible challenge to the "monolith" model of computing.
The Neocloud Revolution
Antimatter’s model is built on the reality that AI training and AI inference (the actual running of models) have different needs. While training requires massive localized clusters, inference requires data to be processed as close to the user as possible to minimize latency. The Nexus-1 project utilizes "Policloud" units—prefabricated, modular data center modules—that are deployed directly at the source of power. By co-locating these units with "stranded" energy assets like wind farms, solar parks, or biogas plants, Antimatter eliminates the need for expensive and slow grid transmission upgrades.
