Project Overview

The ODATA DC ST02 Data Centre Campus represents the maturation of the Latin American hyperscale market, focusing on Chile as a strategic gateway for cloud and content delivery, especially given its role as a Pacific subsea cable hub. Launched in November 2023, the DC ST02 facility provides a substantial 40.6 MW of IT load capacity across $\approx 366,000$ square feet, significantly expanding ODATA's total capacity in Chile to approximately 80 MW across its campuses. ODATA, now part of Aligned Data Centres, is catering directly to the explosive demand from global hyperscale cloud providers. The project is defined by two critical factors unique to the Chilean market: sustainability and seismic resilience. Sustainability: The facility operates on 100% contracted renewable energy, capitalising on Chile's abundant and reliable hydroelectric and solar resources. This commitment is key for hyperscalers seeking to meet global carbon-neutral goals. Furthermore, many similar projects in Chile prioritise Air-Cooled systems to achieve a WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) of zero, a major advantage in a region where water scarcity is a growing concern. Seismic Resilience: Being in a highly active seismic zone, the DC ST02 is engineered with seismic-resistant construction, using reinforced concrete and specialised building techniques designed to protect critical IT equipment from significant earthquake events, ensuring uninterrupted operation for mission-critical services. With a dedicated 60 MVA on-site substation backed by dual utility feeds, DC ST02 provides the robust, reliable power infrastructure necessary for large-scale operations. Its strategic location near Santiago, combined with its carrier-neutral design, secures its role as a high-performance hub, accelerating digital transformation and cloud deployment across the Southern Cone of Latin America.
