Project Summary

Oppidan Cedar Rapids Data Center Iowa 10MW Facility

Status: Permitted / Pre-Construction   |   Location: 1515 33rd Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404, USA

Project Overview

The Oppidan Cedar Rapids Data Center is a proposed $101 million enterprise data center at 1515 33rd Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, designed to provide reliable, high-density infrastructure for corporate and mission-critical digital workloads. Developed by Oppidan Investment Company through its Oppidan Connect data center program, the project will deliver approximately 98,695 square feet of purpose-built data center space within a single-building facility. With an engineered 10 MW critical power capacity, the development is positioned to support enterprise computing, private cloud environments, mission-critical applications and other workloads requiring dependable power and resilient infrastructure. Its Cedar Rapids location provides access to established utility and telecommunications infrastructure while placing the facility within Iowa's growing data center market. A key feature of the project is its use of precast concrete construction, providing a durable building structure suited to the demanding operational requirements of data center environments while supporting efficient construction. The facility is also planned with closed-loop cooling systems, reducing dependence on conventional cooling approaches and supporting more efficient thermal management of computing equipment. Direct connections to regional electric utility networks are another important infrastructure advantage, helping provide the stable power supply required for continuous data center operations. The project's enterprise-focused design differentiates it from much larger hyperscale campuses by targeting organizations that require dedicated, resilient and scalable digital infrastructure without necessarily operating at hyperscale. Through its combination of significant investment, nearly 100,000 square feet of facility space, 10 MW of critical power, durable construction, closed-loop cooling and direct utility connectivity, the Oppidan Cedar Rapids Data Center represents a targeted addition to the region's digital infrastructure capacity. The development also demonstrates the continued expansion of Iowa's data center ecosystem beyond large hyperscale projects into enterprise and mission-critical facilities serving diverse corporate computing requirements.
