Project Overview

Project Horizon is a $16 billion, 2.0 GW flagship artificial intelligence data center campus being developed by AI software startup Poolside across approximately 568 acres of Longfellow Ranch in Pecos County, Texas. Conceived as a vertically integrated “from dirt to intelligence” infrastructure platform, the development is designed to combine dedicated energy generation, data center infrastructure, advanced computing systems, and AI software workloads within a single purpose-built ecosystem. The campus is planned as a behind-the-meter, off-grid facility that will leverage natural gas resources from the Permian Basin to generate the substantial electricity required for large-scale AI computing, reducing dependence on conventional regional transmission infrastructure and enabling Poolside to maintain greater control over its power supply. Project Horizon is specifically engineered for intensive large language model (LLM) training, AI software development, code-generation workloads, and other frontier-scale computational applications. CoreWeave serves as the primary operational partner and anchor tenant under a 15-year master lease covering the initial 250 MW deployment, with an additional 500 MW of capacity reserved for future expansion. The initial computing environment is expected to include more than 40,000 NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 architectures, creating a highly concentrated AI compute cluster capable of supporting advanced model research and training at exceptional scale. The campus architecture is designed around the unique power and thermal requirements of modern AI accelerators, integrating dedicated energy infrastructure with high-density computing and advanced cooling systems. Its location in Pecos County provides access to the Permian Basin’s extensive energy resources while offering substantial land for phased hyperscale expansion. By integrating energy production, data center construction, computing infrastructure, and AI software development within a single development model, Project Horizon represents a significant evolution from traditional cloud data centers toward vertically integrated AI factories. The project demonstrates how dedicated power generation and specialized computing infrastructure can be combined to accelerate the deployment of frontier AI systems while addressing the growing energy and capacity constraints facing conventional data center development.
