QTS Richmond Mega Campus: 300MW Interconnection & AI Hub

Status: Operational / Active Multi-Building AI & Hyperscale Expansion Phase   |   Location: 6000 Technology Boulevard, White Oak Technology Park, Sandston (Henrico County), VA 23150, United States

Project Overview

QTS Realty Trust’s Richmond Mega Data Center Campus in Henrico County’s White Oak Technology Park is one of the United States’ largest hyperscale digital infrastructure developments and a key sovereign AI and interconnection hub outside Northern Virginia. Spanning more than 210 acres with nearly 3 million square feet of data center infrastructure, the campus has been purpose-built to support hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise customers, government organisations, and the rapidly growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. Delivering more than 238 MW of operational critical IT capacity, the Richmond campus plays a vital role in expanding digital infrastructure while helping alleviate power and capacity constraints in the Northern Virginia data center market. A major advantage of the campus is its Richmond Network Access Point (NAP), which provides direct connectivity to more than 20 carrier networks, DE-CIX Richmond, and major long-haul fibre routes, including connectivity supporting transcontinental subsea cable systems such as Google’s Dunant cable, enabling low-latency access to national and international digital networks. The campus is powered by resilient infrastructure supplied by Dominion Energy, ensuring reliable and scalable electricity for mission-critical operations and future hyperscale expansion. Designed for next-generation AI deployments, the facilities incorporate liquid-cooling readiness to support high-density GPU clusters while improving energy efficiency and thermal performance. Sustainability is also central to the campus, with 100% matched renewable energy helping customers reduce carbon emissions and meet environmental objectives. Combined with enterprise-grade security, resilient power systems, extensive interconnection capabilities, and scalable infrastructure, QTS Realty Trust’s Richmond Mega Data Center Campus provides a future-ready platform for hyperscale cloud, AI, and mission-critical digital services, further strengthening Virginia’s position as a global leader in digital infrastructure.
