Project Overview
The SGC Gunsan AI Data Center is a major 300 MW artificial intelligence infrastructure development by SGC Energy, located within the Gunsan National Industrial Complex 2 in Gunsan, South Korea. The campus is being developed to support the rapidly growing demand for high-density computing infrastructure, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and other GPU-intensive workloads. The project is situated on land owned by SGC Green Power, an affiliate of SGC Energy, enabling the development to take advantage of the group’s existing industrial and energy infrastructure. A key feature of the campus is its direct behind-the-meter power generation model, which allows electricity produced through dedicated on-site industrial generation resources to be supplied directly to the data center. This approach can provide greater control over energy supply and help support the substantial electricity requirements associated with densely deployed GPU clusters. The facility also incorporates deep ocean water cooling technology, providing an alternative thermal management solution for high-density computing infrastructure. By utilizing naturally cold deep-sea water for cooling, the system is designed to improve thermal efficiency while reducing dependence on conventional cooling methods. The combination of dedicated power generation and advanced cooling infrastructure positions the Gunsan campus as a specialized environment for large-scale AI computing. The facility is expected to serve both domestic and international technology companies requiring reliable, scalable infrastructure for demanding workloads.
