Vantage 96MW AI Data Center San Antonio Texas

Status: Under Construction (Fit-out Phase)   |   Location: Omicron Drive, Bexar County, San Antonio

Project Overview

The Vantage Frontier (TX12) project in San Antonio, Texas, represents a critical expansion of the "Silicon Hills" corridor into Bexar County. As of today, February 23, 2026, the project has officially entered its "Open Fit-up" phase, involving the tenant build-out of 96 MW of high-density data modules. This specific phase is part of Vantage’s record-breaking $448 million investment in the Omicron Drive site, which is rapidly becoming one of the most densified AI compute zones in the southern United States.

Technically, TX12 is a standout for its liquid-to-liquid cooling architecture. Designed to support the heat profiles of next-generation GPU clusters, the facility can accommodate rack densities approaching 100 kW. By utilizing a closed-loop chilled water system, the project achieves near-zero Water Utilization Effectiveness (WUE), a vital metric for the drought-prone Texas climate. This architectural shift from traditional air cooling to advanced liquid loops allows for a targeted Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.14, placing it among the most efficient large-scale campuses in the region.

Power is delivered via a dedicated high-voltage substation managed by CPS Energy. To ensure 100% uptime for AI training workloads that cannot tolerate interruption, Vantage has integrated a massive Lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This system replaces traditional lead-acid batteries, providing longer discharge cycles and a smaller physical footprint. Furthermore, Vantage has committed to a 100% renewable energy match for the campus, prioritizing local Texas-sourced wind and solar PPAs to offset the massive 96 MW load.

The facility also serves as a key node for low-latency connectivity between the U.S. and Mexico. With over 41 campuses globally, Vantage is leveraging its "Standardized Global Design" at TX12, which allows for rapid deployment—a necessity given that the 96 MW capacity is already significantly pre-leased to a major hyperscale cloud provider. As San Antonio emerges as the world’s next data center capital alongside Dallas, the Frontier TX12 site stands as a "guiding light" for sustainable, AI-ready infrastructure.
